Sofie is Research Manager at the Process and Environmental Technology Lab within the Chemical Engineering Department of KU Leuven. She holds a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering Technology (De Nayer Instituut, 2009) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering (KU Leuven, 2015). Her main research experience include (i) anaerobic digestion of organic waste streams (waste activated sludge, manure), (ii) biological wastewater treatment and (iii) advanced wastewater treatment technologies (advanced oxidation processes). She has (co-)authored 10 publications in peer-reviewed international journals and proceedings of international conferences.
