Lise is currently an associate professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Leuven ( KU Leuven – Belgium). She received her MSc in Bioscience Engineering Science from the University of Antwerp in 2006 and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Leuven in 2010. She specializes in optimizing biochemical conversion processes for resource recovery from organic waste streams, such as sewage sludge, manure, green waste, etc. Processes include anaerobic digestion towards biogas and mixed-culture fermentation towards organic acid production. She has published over 40 papers in peer-reviewed international journals and her work received over 2900 citations. She is subject Editor Biomass of the journal Renewable Energy since 2019 and member of the editorial board of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews.
